These air fryer apple fries are a sweet, crunchy, and healthy snack made with real apples, cinnamon, and a crispy oat-breadcrumb coating. Quick to prepare and loved by kids and adults alike, they’re perfect for after-school snacks, brunch, or guilt-free dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, Granny Smith, or Gala), about 1 lb
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular; use gluten-free if needed)
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch or arrowroot powder (optional)
  • Cooking spray or oil (avocado, canola, or olive oil spray)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Optional for dipping: Greek yogurt (mix with cinnamon and honey), caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry apples. Remove cores and slice into sticks about 1/2-inch thick. Toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs, rolled oats, cinnamon, brown sugar, salt, and cornstarch or arrowroot powder. Mix well.
  3. Crack egg into a small bowl and whisk until well blended.
  4. Dip each apple fry into the beaten egg, letting excess drip off, then roll in the breadcrumb mixture until evenly coated. Place coated fries on a plate.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 375°F for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Arrange coated apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly mist with cooking spray or brush with oil.
  7. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Fries should be golden and crisp outside, tender inside.
  8. Check doneness: fries should be fork-tender but hold their shape. Add extra minute if needed.
  9. Remove fries with tongs or spatula and place on a cooling rack or plate for 2-3 minutes.
  10. Serve warm with your favorite dip.

Notes

Slice apples evenly for best results. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. Double-coat for extra crunch. Use parchment liners if fries stick. For gluten-free, use GF breadcrumbs; for dairy-free, skip yogurt dip or use coconut yogurt. Apples are naturally sweet—reduce sugar for a lower-sugar version. Serve immediately for maximum crispiness.
