  • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (125g) peeled, diced apples
  • 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for swirl)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat softened butter with granulated sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time and mix until well combined.
  4. Stir in milk and vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  5. Fold in diced apples gently to avoid overmixing the batter.
  6. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon for the swirl mixture.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter. Add the remaining batter and top with the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  8. Use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon mixture into the batter, creating ribbons.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Slice and enjoy with a pat of butter or a drizzle of honey.
