These Black Cat Oreo Truffles are quick, no-bake, and perfect for Halloween or any festive occasion. They combine creamy cream cheese with crunchy Oreo crumbs, dipped in dark chocolate and decorated to look like adorable black cats.

  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 12 oz (340 g) dark chocolate for dipping
  • Black candy melts or black food coloring (optional, for coating)
  • Mini candy eyes (optional, for decorating)
  • Orange or yellow candy melts (optional, for nose and inner ears)
  • Black licorice or thin pretzel sticks (for whiskers and ears)

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos in a food processor until fine crumbs (about 3 cups). If no processor, crush in a sealed bag with a rolling pin for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine Oreo crumbs with softened cream cheese. Mix until fully combined and smooth, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Scoop teaspoon-sized portions (about 1 tablespoon or 15 g each) and roll into balls. Slightly pinch one side to form cat ear shapes. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet and chill in fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Melt dark chocolate and black candy melts in microwave-safe bowls in 15-second bursts, stirring until smooth, about 10 minutes.
  5. Dip each chilled truffle into melted black chocolate using a toothpick or dipping tool, ensuring full coverage. Place back on parchment paper to set. Before chocolate hardens, add mini candy eyes, candy melt noses, and licorice whiskers. Let set completely (20 minutes at room temp or 10 minutes in fridge).

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese for smooth mixing. Chill truffles well before dipping to prevent cracking. If chocolate seizes, add a tiny bit of vegetable oil. Work quickly when dipping as chocolate hardens fast. For dairy-free or gluten-free versions, use vegan cream cheese, dairy-free chocolate, and gluten-free Oreos.
