A fun and easy treat combining crisp apple slices, gooey caramel, and playful candy teeth, perfect for parties and festive occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large firm apples (Granny Smith or Fuji)
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter or almond butter (optional)
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional)
  • Several pairs of candy teeth or white candy-coated almonds shaped like teeth
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips or mini chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (if making homemade caramel)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream (if making homemade caramel)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and dry 3 large apples thoroughly. Slice each apple into 8 even wedges (about 1/2 inch thick). Remove any seeds and core bits.
  2. Place 1 cup of caramel sauce in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20-second increments, stirring in between, until smooth and pourable. If using homemade caramel, warm it gently on low heat with 1 tablespoon butter and 2 tablespoons cream.
  3. Using tongs or a fork, dip each apple wedge halfway into the warm caramel. Let excess drip off before placing them on a parchment-lined baking tray. Work quickly before caramel thickens.
  4. Immediately press a pair of candy teeth onto the top edge of the caramel side of each apple wedge. If desired, stick a few mini marshmallows just behind the candy teeth, pressing gently into the caramel.
  5. Place the baking tray with assembled monster mouths in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes to let the caramel firm up. Once set, they’re ready to serve.

Notes

Dry apple slices thoroughly before dipping to prevent caramel from sliding off. Warm caramel gently in short bursts to avoid burning. Press candy teeth onto warm caramel for best adhesion. Chill assembled monster mouths on a flat tray without stacking to keep candy teeth intact. Variations include nut-free options, chocolate drizzle, and seasonal fruit swaps.
