A quick and easy creamy hot crab dip with gooey melted cheese, perfect for last-minute get-togethers or festive gatherings. This comforting appetizer combines lump crab meat with a rich blend of cream cheese and shredded cheeses for a crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 oz canned lump crab meat
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it at room temperature for about 30 minutes or microwaving in short 10-second bursts until spreadable (but not melted).
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and mayonnaise. Beat with a hand mixer or whisk until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add minced garlic, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Mix well to blend the flavors evenly.
  5. Gently fold in the crab meat, reserving a few chunks for topping if desired. Be careful not to break up the lumps.
  6. Stir in half of the shredded mozzarella and all of the Parmesan cheese.
  7. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  8. Transfer the mixture to an 8×8-inch baking dish. Spread evenly and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and reserved crab meat on top.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until hot, bubbling, and golden brown on top.
  10. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes to thicken slightly.
  11. Garnish with sliced green onions.
  12. Serve warm with sturdy crackers, toasted baguette slices, or fresh veggies for dipping.

Notes

Softening the cream cheese is crucial to avoid lumps. Use lump crab meat for best texture. Fold crab gently to keep chunks intact. Adjust salt carefully as cheese and crab are naturally salty. If the top browns too fast, tent with foil. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheat gently.
