A quick and easy iced coffee drink combining bold espresso, caramel-like brown sugar, and creamy oat milk, shaken to create a frothy, refreshing beverage perfect for warm weather.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots (about 2 fl oz) freshly brewed espresso (or strong brewed coffee/instant espresso powder)
  • 2 tablespoons (about 25 grams) packed brown sugar (dark or light)
  • 1/2 cup (4 fl oz) oat milk (preferably barista-style)
  • Ice cubes (enough to fill shaker or glass halfway)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 shots of espresso (about 2 fl oz). If using brewed coffee, make it strong and hot. Set aside briefly.
  2. While espresso is still hot, stir in 2 tablespoons of brown sugar until fully dissolved.
  3. Fill a cocktail shaker or mason jar halfway with ice cubes.
  4. Pour the sweetened espresso over the ice. Add 1/2 cup oat milk and optional 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  5. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until cold and frothy.
  6. Pour the shaken espresso into a tall glass filled with fresh ice and serve immediately.

Notes

Dissolve brown sugar in hot espresso to avoid grainy texture. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to achieve frothy texture without watering down. Use barista-style oat milk for best creaminess. Fresh, clear ice cubes prevent dilution. Variations include using coconut cream for richer texture or keto sweeteners for low-carb version.
