Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds (900g) chicken wings, tips removed and wings separated
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • For the Buffalo Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • For the Smoky BBQ Sauce:
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder (optional)
  • For the Garlic Parmesan Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels.
  2. In a large bowl, toss wings with vegetable oil, kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  4. Arrange wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding.
  5. Air fry wings for 12 minutes, then flip and cook for another 12-13 minutes until golden and crispy and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Add 2-3 extra minutes if needed for crispiness.
  6. While wings cook, prepare the sauces in separate bowls:
  7. Buffalo Sauce: Melt butter, then whisk with hot sauce, honey, and garlic powder.
  8. Smoky BBQ Sauce: Stir together barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, and chipotle powder.
  9. Garlic Parmesan Sauce: Mix mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  10. Divide cooked wings into three bowls and toss each batch with one of the sauces until fully coated.
  11. Serve wings warm, optionally with celery sticks or carrot slices.

Notes

Pat wings dry thoroughly to ensure crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation. Flip wings halfway through cooking. Preheat the air fryer for best results. Toss wings in sauce only after cooking to keep skin crispy. For dairy-free, substitute butter and mayonnaise with vegan alternatives. Check barbecue and hot sauce labels for gluten if needed.
