A quick and easy recipe for crispy garlic bread stuffed with gooey melted mozzarella cheese, perfect for any occasion and loved by both kids and adults.

  • 1 large crusty loaf (French baguette or Italian bread)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (whole milk recommended)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • A pinch of freshly ground black pepper (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the bread in half lengthwise using a serrated knife. Cut deep slits about 1 inch apart across the inside of each half without slicing all the way through the bottom crust.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and olive oil. Mix well until smooth and fragrant.
  4. Generously spread the garlic butter mixture inside each slit and over the entire cut surface of the bread halves.
  5. Stuff shredded mozzarella cheese into each slit and sprinkle some extra cheese on top of the bread.
  6. Wrap each half tightly in aluminum foil and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes to melt the cheese and warm the bread.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to crisp the crust and brown the cheese slightly, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  9. Check for doneness: bread should be golden and crispy, cheese melted and bubbly. Bake a few more minutes if needed.
  10. Let the bread cool for 3-5 minutes before slicing to allow the cheese to set.

Notes

Use fresh garlic for best flavor. Wrap bread tightly in foil to lock in moisture. Let bread rest before slicing to prevent cheese from oozing out. For extra crunch, sprinkle grated Parmesan before final bake. Can substitute mozzarella with a mix of mozzarella and cheddar or other melting cheeses. For dairy-free, use vegan butter and dairy-free cheese alternatives. For gluten-free, use gluten-free bread and adjust baking time accordingly.
