These crispy garlic parmesan bread twists are a quick and easy snack or appetizer with a perfect balance of crunchy, cheesy, and garlicky flavors. Made with simple ingredients and minimal effort, they are perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 4 tbsp (60 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (blend of oregano, basil, thyme, rosemary)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • ¼ tsp optional red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir well.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a roughly 12×12 inch (30×30 cm) square.
  4. Brush the garlic butter mixture evenly over the dough using a pastry brush.
  5. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the buttered dough.
  6. Cut the dough into 1-inch (2.5 cm) wide strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  7. Twist each strip several times and place them spaced out on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and crispy on the edges.
  9. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley.
  10. Let cool slightly on a wire rack before serving to maintain crispness.

Notes

Do not overload the butter and cheese to avoid sogginess. Twist firmly but gently to keep shape. Use fresh minced garlic for best flavor. Let twists cool on a wire rack to maintain crispness. For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes watching carefully. Can be made with gluten-free dough or dairy-free butter for dietary adaptations.
