A quick and easy snack featuring tender asparagus wrapped in crispy prosciutto, perfect for entertaining or casual snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh asparagus spears, trimmed
  • 8 slices thinly sliced prosciutto
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • Zest of half a lemon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Trim the asparagus by snapping off the woody ends, leaving stalks about 5-6 inches long.
  3. Cut each slice of prosciutto in half lengthwise to create thinner strips.
  4. Toss asparagus in a small bowl with olive oil and lemon zest if using.
  5. Wrap each asparagus spear snugly with a prosciutto strip and place on the baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
  6. Lightly sprinkle freshly cracked black pepper over the wrapped asparagus.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, watching closely after 10 minutes until prosciutto is crispy and asparagus is tender but still crisp.
  8. Transfer to a cooling rack or plate and let rest for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Notes

Wrap prosciutto loosely to allow it to crisp properly. Use thin asparagus stalks for best results. Watch baking time closely to avoid burning. Let bites rest after baking to enhance crispiness. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven.
