A quick and easy breakfast ring made with buttery crescent rolls, melted cheese, eggs, and optional savory fillings, perfect for busy mornings or brunch gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 oz/226 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 cups (200 g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 large eggs, beaten (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) cooked breakfast sausage or bacon, chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (40 g) diced bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup (30 g) diced onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or melted butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line your baking sheet or pizza pan with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and lightly grease it with cooking spray or melted butter.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean surface. Gently press the perforations to seal the triangles into one solid rectangle.
  3. Cut the dough into 12 equal strips, about 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  5. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese evenly over the center of the dough rectangle. Then spread the cooked sausage (or bacon), diced bell peppers, and onions on top of the cheese layer.
  6. Pour the egg mixture slowly over the filling, making sure it’s evenly distributed. Then sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese on top.
  7. Starting from one short edge, carefully lift each strip and fold it over the filling at a slight angle, alternating sides to create a braided ring pattern. Pinch the ends together to seal the ring.
  8. Transfer the ring onto your prepared pan, shaping it into a neat circle. Tuck the ends under to secure the ring.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the crescent dough is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. The center should be set but still soft and the edges crisp.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Seal the crescent dough perforations tightly to prevent cheese from leaking. If edges brown too quickly, tent with foil halfway through baking. Let the ring rest before slicing for cleaner cuts. Can be assembled the night before and baked fresh in the morning with a few extra minutes baking time. Freeze whole or sliced for longer storage.
