A stunning and easy-to-make heart-shaped charcuterie board featuring salami roses, assorted cheeses, fruits, nuts, and crackers. Perfect for romantic occasions or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Assorted crackers (water crackers, multigrain)
  • French baguette slices, lightly toasted
  • Thinly sliced salami (e.g., Columbus or Boar’s Head)
  • Toothpicks (to secure salami roses if needed)
  • Brie cheese, sliced or chunked
  • Sharp cheddar cheese, cubed
  • Manchego or gouda cheese, sliced
  • Seedless grapes (red or green)
  • Fresh figs or berries (seasonal, e.g., strawberries in summer)
  • Dried apricots or cranberries
  • Marcona almonds or roasted walnuts
  • Mixed olives (green and black, pitted)
  • Honey or fig jam (for drizzling or dipping)
  • Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs
  • Edible flowers (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salami roses: Lay one slice of salami flat. Fold a second slice lengthwise in half and roll tightly to form the rose center. Wrap the first slice around the roll, overlapping edges to mimic petals. Secure with toothpicks if needed. Make 6-8 roses.
  2. Slice the cheeses into bite-sized pieces or slices. Slice the baguette into thin rounds and toast lightly until golden and crisp.
  3. Arrange crackers and baguette slices around the perimeter of the heart-shaped board to outline the heart shape, leaving space inside.
  4. Place the salami roses evenly inside the heart shape, spacing them as the centerpiece.
  5. Fill spaces around the roses with cheese clusters, grapes, figs, berries, and dried fruits, balancing colors and textures.
  6. Scatter almonds, walnuts, and olives in small bowls or directly on the board. Add fresh herb sprigs and edible flowers. Drizzle honey or place fig jam on the side.
  7. Adjust the arrangement to keep the heart shape clear and clean up crumbs for a polished look.

Notes

Use thinly sliced salami for easier rolling. Let salami sit at room temperature if too stiff. Mix soft and firm cheeses for texture contrast. Avoid overcrowding to maintain heart shape. Prepare salami roses and toast bread simultaneously to save time. Let board sit 15 minutes before serving for flavors to meld. For gluten-free, swap crackers and bread accordingly. For vegetarian, replace salami with marinated artichokes or grilled veggies shaped into roses.
