A quick and easy frozen margarita slush blending sweet ripe mangoes with spicy habanero and tequila for a refreshing party drink with a tropical kick.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups ripe mangoes, peeled and chopped (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 small fresh habanero pepper, deseeded if milder heat desired
  • 1 cup (240 ml) tequila blanco
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons agave syrup (can substitute honey or simple syrup)
  • 2 to 3 cups ice cubes
  • Salt for rimming glasses (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop ripe mangoes into chunks.
  2. Slice the habanero pepper in half, remove seeds if desired, and roughly chop.
  3. Juice the limes to get about 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lime juice.
  4. In a high-speed blender, combine mango chunks, chopped habanero, lime juice, tequila blanco, and agave syrup. Blend on high until completely smooth, scraping down sides as needed.
  5. Add 2 to 3 cups of ice cubes and pulse until a thick, frozen slush texture is achieved.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness or spice by adding more agave syrup, lime juice, water, or tequila as needed.
  7. Rub lime around the rims of glasses and dip into coarse salt if desired.
  8. Pour the frozen margarita slush into glasses and garnish with a lime wedge or thin slice of habanero.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

Handle habanero peppers with care; wear gloves if possible. Adjust spice level by deseeding or substituting with milder peppers like jalapeño. Chill glasses beforehand for best serving experience. If slush melts too quickly, freeze blender jar for 5 minutes and stir before serving again. For a mocktail, omit tequila and add extra lime juice plus sparkling water.
