  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) salsa
  • 1 cup (120 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 medium tomato, diced and seeded

  • 2 large green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup (15 g) chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
  • Jalapeño slices (optional)
  • Tortilla chips for serving

Instructions

  2. Spread refried beans evenly on the bottom of a 9-inch (23 cm) pie dish (2-3 minutes).
  3. Spoon the cream cheese and sour cream mixture over the beans, spreading gently but evenly (2 minutes).
  4. Pour salsa evenly over the cream cheese layer and spread gently to keep texture (2 minutes).
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the salsa layer.
  6. Add diced tomato, sliced black olives, and chopped green onions evenly over the cheese.
  7. Scatter chopped cilantro and jalapeño slices on top (if using) (2 minutes).
  8. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld.
  9. Serve chilled or at room temperature with sturdy tortilla chips.

Notes

Soften cream cheese to room temperature for smooth spreading. Drain excess liquid from salsa or tomatoes to avoid sogginess. Chill dip for at least 30 minutes or up to a few hours for best flavor. Use gluten-free taco seasoning and chips for gluten-free version. Substitute dairy-free alternatives for a dairy-free version.
