Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Let the cream cheese sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes until softened.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with heavy cream and whip on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Fold in sour cream, smoked paprika, liquid smoke, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently but thoroughly.
  4. Add fresh chives and stir in gently with a rubber spatula.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if desired.
  6. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably 2-3 hours.
  7. Bring to room temperature about 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Let cream cheese soften naturally at room temperature to avoid lumps. Use liquid smoke sparingly to prevent overpowering the flavor. Chill for best flavor and texture. Avoid overmixing after adding sour cream and spices to prevent runniness. Bring to room temperature before serving for best spreadability.
