These cinnamon apple fritters are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with the sweetness of apples and warmth of cinnamon. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) milk, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and dice the apples into small chunks (about 1/4-inch pieces). Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate small bowl, combine the wet ingredients: egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until the batter is just combined. Don’t overmix.
  5. Fold in the diced apples, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Test the oil by dropping in a small piece of batter; it should sizzle and float to the top.
  7. Carefully spoon heaping tablespoons of batter into the hot oil, leaving space between each fritter. Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  8. Using a slotted spoon, remove the fritters from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess grease.
  9. Dust the fritters with powdered sugar while they’re still warm, and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. Monitor oil temperature to avoid undercooked centers or greasy fritters. Serve warm for optimal flavor and texture.
