A festive appetizer combining sweet-tart cranberries, creamy Camembert, and buttery puff pastry for an indulgent holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 wheel Camembert cheese (about 8 ounces)
  • 1/2 cup cranberry sauce (whole berry preferred)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Fresh rosemary (optional, for garnish)
  • Chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to smooth out any creases. Skip this step if the pastry is already the right size.
  3. Place the wheel of Camembert in the center of the pastry sheet.
  4. Spoon the cranberry sauce on top of the Camembert, spreading it evenly.
  5. Fold the edges of the puff pastry up and over the cheese and cranberry sauce. Press gently to seal the edges, using a little water if needed.
  6. Decorate the pastry with shapes cut from extra pastry, if desired. Brush the entire pastry with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Transfer the pastry to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
  8. Let the pastry cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

[‘Work quickly with the puff pastry to prevent it from becoming sticky. If it softens, refrigerate for a few minutes.’, ‘Brush the pastry with egg wash for a golden crust.’, ‘Cook fresh cranberries with sugar and orange juice for homemade cranberry sauce.’, ‘Lightly score decorative lines or patterns on the pastry for an elegant touch.’, ‘Serve warm for the best gooey texture of the cheese.’]
