Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (340 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can (14 oz or 396 g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons (28 g) unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup (100 g) sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup (125 g) chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup (56 g) unsalted butter
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a heatproof mixing bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water to create a double boiler. Stir until fully melted and smooth. Remove from heat and mix in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  2. Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a bit of overhang for easy removal later. Pour the chocolate mixture into the pan and spread evenly with a spatula. Place in the refrigerator to set while you prepare the topping.
  3. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the granulated sugar, evaporated milk, and egg yolks. Add the butter and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens (about 8-10 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in the shredded coconut, chopped pecans, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Allow the topping to cool slightly, then spread it evenly over the chilled chocolate base. Press gently to ensure it adheres to the fudge.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until fully set. Once firm, use the parchment paper to lift the fudge out of the pan. Cut into squares and enjoy!
