A bright, zesty, and creamy cottage cheese bowl with fresh orange segments and crunchy granola, perfect for a quick, wholesome breakfast that feels special.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) small-curd cottage cheese
  • 1 medium orange, peeled and segmented
  • ½ cup (50 grams) granola
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 grams) chia seeds (optional)
  • A few sprigs fresh mint leaves (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon (1 gram) lemon zest (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the orange by peeling it with a small knife, removing all the white pith, then carefully segment the orange by cutting between the membranes to release clean slices (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, scoop 1 cup (240 ml) of small-curd cottage cheese. Stir in 1 teaspoon (5 grams) of chia seeds and ½ teaspoon (1 gram) of lemon zest if using, being gentle to keep curds intact (2-3 minutes).
  3. Spoon the cottage cheese mixture into your serving bowl and arrange the orange segments on top in a pretty pattern (2 minutes).
  4. Sprinkle ½ cup (50 grams) of granola evenly over the orange and cottage cheese (less than 1 minute).
  5. Drizzle 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of honey or maple syrup over the bowl and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired (about 1 minute).
  6. Serve immediately to keep granola crunchy. If prepping ahead, keep granola separate and add just before serving.

Notes

Use small-curd cottage cheese for creaminess. Segment oranges carefully to avoid bitter pith. Keep granola separate if prepping ahead to maintain crunch. Taste cottage cheese mixture before assembling and add a pinch of salt if desired. Variations include swapping orange for other fruits or using dairy-free yogurt alternatives.
