Irresistible White BBQ Chicken Subs

These white BBQ chicken subs are packed with flavor, featuring tangy homemade white BBQ sauce, smoky grilled chicken, and fresh toppings. Perfect for easy dinners!

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 4 sub rolls
  • Pickles, sliced
  • Red onion, thinly sliced
  • Shredded lettuce

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, prepared horseradish, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper to make the white BBQ sauce. Cover and refrigerate.
  2. Slice chicken breasts horizontally into thinner pieces. Season both sides with smoked paprika, garlic powder, and salt and pepper.
  3. Heat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until internal temperature reaches 165°F. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  4. Slice pickles, red onion, and sub rolls. Shred lettuce and set aside.
  5. Spread white BBQ sauce on the inside of each sub roll. Add shredded lettuce, sliced chicken, pickles, and red onions. Drizzle extra sauce on top.
  6. Serve immediately while chicken is warm and rolls are soft.
