A quick and easy springtime appetizer featuring a warm, melty wheel of baked brie topped with honey-roasted walnuts and fresh seasonal fruit, perfect for casual gatherings and entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 wheel Brie cheese (8 oz / 225 g), rind on
  • 3 tablespoons honey (raw or wildflower preferred)
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (60 g), roughly chopped and lightly toasted
  • 1 cup fresh fruit (a mix of sliced strawberries, halved green grapes, and sliced kiwi)
  • Fresh thyme sprigs (optional, for garnish)
  • Baguette or crackers, sliced thinly (rustic sourdough recommended)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss the chopped walnuts with 2 tablespoons of honey. Spread the mixture on a parchment-lined baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes, stirring halfway through. Watch closely to avoid burning.
  3. Place the wheel of brie on an oven-safe dish. Drizzle the remaining 1 tablespoon of honey on top, then sprinkle with the toasted walnuts once they have cooled slightly.
  4. Bake the brie in the oven for about 12-15 minutes until warm and melty but still holding shape with a gentle jiggle.
  5. While the brie bakes, slice the strawberries, halve the grapes, and peel and slice the kiwi. Arrange the baguette or crackers on your serving board.
  6. Carefully remove the baked brie from the oven and transfer it to your serving platter if needed. Surround the cheese with fresh fruit and bread slices. Garnish with fresh thyme sprigs if desired.
  7. Serve immediately, encouraging guests to scoop the melty brie onto bread and enjoy with fruit and honey walnuts.

Notes

Use pecans or almonds as nut substitutes. For gluten-free, serve with rice crackers or gluten-free bread. Swap honey with maple syrup for a vegan-friendly version. Warm honey slightly before drizzling for better coverage. Watch walnuts carefully when toasting to avoid burning. Bake brie until melty but not collapsed; a gentle jiggle indicates perfect texture. Prepare fruit and nuts ahead for quick assembly.
