Delicious and easy-to-make chocolate covered strawberries with a silky chocolate coating and optional toppings, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) fresh strawberries, washed and thoroughly dried
  • 8 oz (225g) high-quality semi-sweet chocolate chips or bars
  • 4 oz (115g) white chocolate chips or bars for drizzling (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon (15g) unsalted butter (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)
  • Crushed nuts or sprinkles for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gently wash 1 pound (450g) of fresh strawberries and dry them thoroughly with paper towels. Let them air dry for 10 minutes if needed.
  2. Place 8 oz (225g) of semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped bars in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at 50% power in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. Alternatively, melt chocolate over a double boiler on low heat, stirring gently to avoid burning. Stir in 1 tablespoon (15g) of unsalted butter for a glossy finish, if using.
  3. Hold each strawberry by the stem or use a toothpick, dip it into the melted chocolate, swirling to coat evenly. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl. Place dipped strawberry onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat until all strawberries are coated.
  4. Melt 4 oz (115g) white chocolate using the same melting method. Use a fork or piping bag to drizzle white chocolate over the coated strawberries for a pretty contrast (optional).
  5. While chocolate is still wet, sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt, crushed nuts, or festive sprinkles to suit your occasion (optional).
  6. Place the baking sheet in the fridge for about 30 minutes or until chocolate is fully set and firm to the touch.
  7. Remove from fridge 10 minutes before serving to let the chocolate soften slightly.

Notes

Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from seizing. Melt chocolate slowly at low heat and stir often. Adding butter or coconut oil helps achieve a glossy finish. Chill chocolate covered strawberries fully before serving for best texture. Avoid stacking strawberries during chilling to prevent sticking. Use high-quality chocolate for best results.
