A quick and easy smoked salmon bagel board perfect for casual brunches or entertaining guests, featuring creamy dill cream cheese, fresh veggies, and smoky salmon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 46 fresh bagels (everything or plain; mini bagels work great for parties)
  • 8 ounces (225g) quality smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces (225g) full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1 large lemon, cut into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained
  • ½ small red onion, thinly sliced into rings (optional)
  • 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 810 cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Fresh ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional extras: sliced radishes, sliced avocado, or fresh arugula

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Spread: In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese with finely chopped fresh dill, a pinch of freshly ground black pepper, and about 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Mix until smooth and evenly combined. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Set aside.
  2. Slice the Bagels: Using a sharp knife, slice each bagel horizontally into halves. For mini bagels, slice into thin rounds for bite-sized pieces. Toast lightly if desired for added texture (optional).
  3. Prepare the Veggies and Garnishes: Thinly slice red onion, cucumber, and halve cherry tomatoes. Arrange these on small bowls or directly on the serving board. Rinse and pat dry capers and fresh dill sprigs. Cut lemon into wedges, removing seeds.
  4. Assemble the Board: Place bagel halves or rounds around the board or platter. Spoon dollops of dill cream cheese onto each bagel piece or offer in a bowl for guests to spread. Neatly layer smoked salmon slices near the bagels, folding or rolling for volume. Scatter sliced veggies, capers, lemon wedges, and optional extras like radishes or arugula around the board.
  5. Final Touches: Add a few twists of fresh black pepper over the salmon and a light drizzle of olive oil if desired. Garnish with dill sprigs. Ensure the board looks inviting and easy to grab.

Notes

Let cream cheese soften at room temperature for easier mixing and spreading. Assemble board just before serving to avoid sogginess. For gluten-free options, use gluten-free bagels or crispbreads. Vegan cream cheese can be used for dairy-free adaptations. Thinly slice onions and soak briefly in cold water to mellow sharpness if desired. Fold or roll salmon slices for better presentation and volume.
