A quick and easy festive cocktail combining tart cranberry juice, spicy ginger beer, vodka, and fresh rosemary for a cozy yet crisp holiday drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) vodka
  • 3 ounces (90 ml) cranberry juice (100% juice preferred)
  • 4 ounces (120 ml) ginger beer
  • 0.5 ounce (15 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1 fresh rosemary sprig, gently bruised
  • Ice cubes (large cubes or spheres preferred)
  • Fresh cranberries (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Chill your copper mule mug or glass in the freezer for about 10 minutes.
  2. Gently bruise one fresh rosemary sprig by pressing between palms or tapping lightly with the back of a spoon to release aromatic oils.
  3. In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, combine 2 ounces vodka, 3 ounces cranberry juice, and 0.5 ounce fresh lime juice. Add ice cubes to fill halfway and shake or stir well for about 15 seconds until chilled.
  4. Remove the chilled mug from the freezer and fill it about three-quarters full with fresh large ice cubes.
  5. Strain the vodka-cranberry-lime mixture into the mug over the ice.
  6. Top off the drink with 4 ounces ginger beer, pouring gently to preserve fizz.
  7. Garnish with the bruised rosemary sprig, sliding it between the ice cubes. Optionally, add a few fresh cranberries for a festive look.

Notes

Use large ice cubes to slow dilution. Gently bruise rosemary to release oils without bitterness. Add ginger beer last and pour gently to keep fizz. Fresh lime juice is preferred for brightness. The recipe can be adapted as a mocktail by omitting vodka and increasing ginger beer or adding sparkling water. Variations include substituting cranberry juice with pomegranate juice or adding a spicy kick with jalapeño or cayenne.
