Refreshing Moscow Mule - featured image

A crisp and invigorating Moscow Mule cocktail made with fresh lime juice, smooth vodka, and spicy ginger beer, served best in a chilled copper mug for ultimate refreshment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz (60 ml) vodka (choose a clean, smooth vodka like Tito’s or Absolut)
  • ½ oz (15 ml) fresh lime juice (freshly squeezed from about half a lime)
  • 4 to 6 oz (120 to 180 ml) ginger beer (spicy, robust brand like Fever-Tree or Goslings)
  • Ice cubes (plenty to keep your drink chilled and refreshing)
  • Lime wedge or wheel (for garnish)
  • Sprig of fresh mint (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Chill your copper mug or glass in the freezer for about 10 minutes before making your drink.
  2. Slice a fresh lime in half and squeeze about ½ oz (15 ml) of juice using a citrus juicer or reamer.
  3. Pour 2 oz (60 ml) of vodka into the chilled mug.
  4. Add the freshly squeezed lime juice to the mug with the vodka.
  5. Fill the mug almost to the top with plenty of ice cubes.
  6. Slowly top off your drink with 4 to 6 oz (120 to 180 ml) of ginger beer, starting with 4 oz and adding more to taste.
  7. Stir gently with a spoon or stirrer to mix the ingredients without losing carbonation.
  8. Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel and a sprig of fresh mint if desired, then serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor; avoid bottled lime juice. Choose a spicy, robust ginger beer rather than ginger ale for authentic taste. Chill the mug beforehand to keep the drink colder longer. Stir gently to preserve carbonation. Adjust ginger beer amount to taste. For a sweeter cocktail, add a splash of simple syrup or honey. For a non-alcoholic version, replace vodka with extra ginger beer or ginger syrup.
