A light and fizzy sparkling apple cider sangria infused with cinnamon sticks and fresh fruit, perfect for fall parties and cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (950 ml) sparkling apple cider, chilled
  • 1 cup (240 ml) dry white wine, chilled (Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio recommended)
  • 2 medium fresh apples, cored and thinly sliced (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith preferred)
  • 1 medium fresh orange, thinly sliced
  • 3 to 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 whole star anise (optional)
  • A handful of fresh cranberries (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the apples and oranges thoroughly. Core the apples and slice them thinly (about 1/8 inch thickness). Slice the orange similarly, removing any seeds. Set aside. (5 minutes)
  2. In a large pitcher, combine 4 cups of chilled sparkling apple cider and 1 cup of dry white wine. Stir gently to blend. (2 minutes)
  3. Add 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice and 1 to 2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey to the mixture. Stir until the sweetener dissolves completely. (3 minutes)
  4. Add 3 to 4 cinnamon sticks and the optional star anise to the pitcher. Then add the sliced apples, oranges, and fresh cranberries if using. (2 minutes)
  5. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably 2-3 hours, to allow flavors to meld. (1-3 hours)
  6. Before serving, gently stir the sangria to mix any settled fruit and redistribute flavors. Pour into glasses, ensuring each serving has some fruit slices and a cinnamon stick for garnish. (2 minutes)

Notes

For more fizz, top off each glass with extra sparkling apple cider or club soda just before serving. Avoid vigorous stirring to preserve bubbles. Remove one cinnamon stick after 2 hours if the spice becomes too strong. For a non-alcoholic version, replace white wine with sparkling water or extra sparkling apple cider. Leftovers should be refrigerated and consumed within 24 hours to maintain fizz and freshness. To serve warm, gently heat without boiling and remove cinnamon sticks before serving.
