virgin mojito mocktail - featured image

A quick and easy non-alcoholic mojito mocktail featuring fresh mint, lime juice, and sparkling water for a refreshing and light drink perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 medium lime, juiced (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 12 teaspoons granulated sugar (or honey/agave as a substitute)
  • 1 cup (8 fl oz) sparkling water
  • Ice cubes (preferably large)
  • Optional: splash of fresh orange juice or orange slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare a tall glass or mason jar and add 10-12 fresh mint leaves, spreading them out for good coverage.
  2. Sprinkle 1-2 teaspoons of granulated sugar over the mint leaves.
  3. Gently muddle the mint and sugar together for 1-2 minutes to release the oils without bruising the leaves too much.
  4. Cut the lime in half and squeeze about 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice into the glass, avoiding seeds.
  5. Fill the glass about halfway with large ice cubes.
  6. Pour 1 cup (8 fl oz) of cold sparkling water gently over the ice and muddled mint mixture.
  7. Stir lightly with a long spoon or straw to mix ingredients evenly without crushing the mint further.
  8. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a slice of lime or orange on the rim and serve immediately.

Notes

Do not over-muddle the mint to avoid bitterness. Use freshly squeezed lime juice for best flavor. Large ice cubes melt slower and keep the drink chilled longer. Prepare sparkling water chilled and add just before serving to keep bubbles lively. The drink is best enjoyed fresh within a couple of hours.
