These savory garlic butter mushrooms are rich, flavorful, and incredibly versatile. Perfect as a side dish, appetizer, or topping for steak, chicken, or pasta.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) cremini mushrooms, cleaned and halved or quartered
  • 4 tbsp (56 g) unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp thyme, fresh or dried
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Clean the mushrooms by wiping them with a damp paper towel. Slice them into halves or quarters if they’re too large.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Heat for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Place the mushrooms in the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and moisture is released.
  4. Lower the heat to medium, then add 4 tablespoons of butter and minced garlic. Stir continuously for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and butter is melted.
  5. Sprinkle in salt, pepper, and thyme. Stir well to coat the mushrooms in the butter mixture.
  6. Remove the pan from heat and stir in chopped parsley and lemon juice. Toss to combine.
  7. Transfer the mushrooms to a serving dish and serve immediately.

Notes

[‘Don’t overcrowd the pan to ensure proper searing.’, ‘Adjust garlic to taste for a stronger or milder flavor.’, ‘Use fresh herbs for the best flavor, but dried herbs can work in a pinch.’, ‘Avoid overcooking mushrooms to prevent them from becoming rubbery.’, ‘Experiment with spices like smoked paprika or red pepper flakes for added heat.’]
