  • 6 oz (180 ml) Guinness stout
  • 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 8 small slider buns
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Optional toppings: pickles, lettuce, mustard

Instructions

  1. Caramelize the onions: Heat 2 tbsp of butter or olive oil over medium-low heat in a skillet. Add thinly sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Stir occasionally and cook slowly for about 25 minutes until golden brown. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the beef mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Guinness stout, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and let rest for 5 minutes.
  3. Form the sliders: Shape the beef mixture into 8 equal patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter and ½ inch thick. Press a small indent in the center of each patty.
  4. Cook the sliders: Heat skillet to medium-high and lightly oil. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes on the first side. Flip, add a slice of cheddar on each patty, and cook another 3-4 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  5. Toast the buns (optional): Split slider buns and toast lightly in the same pan for about 2 minutes.
  6. Assemble the sliders: Place each patty on a toasted bun bottom, top with caramelized onions, add optional toppings if desired, and finish with the bun top.

Notes

Do not rush caramelizing onions to avoid bitterness. Press a small indent in patties to prevent puffing. Cook sliders in batches to avoid overcrowding. Add cheddar cheese after flipping patties for perfect melting. Let sliders rest a few minutes before serving to redistribute juices.
