These spooky mummy wrapped hot dogs are a fun, quick, and festive Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough with mustard eyes. Perfect for parties and easy to make in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Hot dogs (classic beef, pork, or plant-based for vegetarian option)
  • One 8-ounce tube crescent roll dough (about 226 grams)
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water)
  • Optional: garlic powder or paprika for dough brush
  • Optional: tiny edible candy eyes instead of mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and press the perforations together to form one solid piece. Slice the dough lengthwise into thin strips about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) wide.
  3. Cut each hot dog in half if you want smaller bites (about 3 inches or 7.5 cm) or leave whole for larger mummies.
  4. Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips, leaving small gaps so the hot dog peeks through. Wrap in a crisscross pattern and tuck ends underneath.
  5. Place wrapped hot dogs on the baking sheet about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart.
  6. Whisk the egg wash and brush lightly over the dough for a golden finish.
  7. Use a toothpick or knife tip to dot two small circles of yellow mustard near the top of each mummy for eyes.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until dough is puffed and golden brown.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Keep dough chilled until slicing to prevent stickiness. Don’t wrap dough too tightly to allow even baking. Use egg wash sparingly for a golden finish. Place mustard eyes just before baking to avoid running. For less mess, use edible candy eyes after baking. If dough tears, warm slightly in hands before wrapping. Watch baking time closely to avoid overbaking.
