This easy homemade vanilla cinnamon latte combines warm cinnamon, fragrant vanilla, and creamy frothed milk for a cozy coffeehouse treat you can make in minutes at home. Perfect for busy mornings, afternoon pick-me-ups, or impressing friends with your barista skills.

  • 2 shots (about 2 oz/60 ml) espresso or 1/2 cup (120 ml) strong brewed coffee
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk (whole, 2%, skim, oat, almond, or soy)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons sweetener of choice (sugar, honey, maple syrup, agave, or brown sugar)
  • Optional toppings: cinnamon sugar, whipped cream, extra vanilla drizzle, cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 shots of espresso (about 2 oz/60 ml) or 1/2 cup (120 ml) strong coffee using your preferred method.
  2. Pour 1 cup (240 ml) milk into a small saucepan. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  3. Warm the milk mixture over medium-low heat, whisking constantly until steaming but not boiling (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Stir in 1 to 2 teaspoons of your chosen sweetener while the milk is hot. Taste and adjust as needed.
  5. Froth the infused milk using a milk frother, whisk, or French press until creamy and doubled in volume.
  6. Pour the hot espresso or coffee into a large mug. Slowly add the frothed milk, holding back the foam with a spoon, then spoon the foam on top.
  7. Top with cinnamon sugar, whipped cream, or a cinnamon stick if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy hot.

Notes

For a vegan version, use plant-based milk and a vegan sweetener. For iced lattes, skip heating the milk and pour over ice. Brown sugar adds a caramel note. Use fresh cinnamon for best flavor. If you don’t have a frother, shake milk in a jar and microwave or use a whisk. Adjust sweetness and milk type to taste.
